AECOM acoustics team is looking for an enthusiastic, sound passionate assistant architect. This is a rare opportunity for a RIBA Part-II architectural assistant to join AECOM building/architectural acoustics team in St Albans. You will be working on some of the world’s most challenging and exciting projects within the built environment, including arts, culture and media; education; residential; commercial and healthcare.
At AECOM we have one of the world’s largest Acoustics Teams, with approximately 50 full time specialists in the UK alone. We undertake a wide range of acoustics projects offering our clients technical support throughout a project lifecycle
As a member of our Acoustics team you can expect to work on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects including some of the most prestigious projects in the UK. Recent and current clients include BBC, English National Ballet, Simpson Haugh Architects, Hopkins Architects, Shell, Houses of Parliament.
We have an impressive portfolio of major national and international projects. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
Shakespeare North Theatre,
English National Ballet New Facilities,
UTC Mulberry Theatre,
Great Hall Reading,
BBC TV studios,
Globo TV Studios Rio Brazil,
Performing Art Centre Kuala Lumpur,

Elisabeth Tower (Big Ben).
The appropriate level of expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual keen to work collaboratively and iteratively within an established acoustics team.
Contribute to the design of complex projects of different scales (3D modelling, optimisation of geometry),
Prepare drawings for the acoustic details & schematic overlay drawings of acoustics requirements,
Help the team to use and develop immersive technology,
Assist in preparing presentation packages,
Participate in high-profile competitive acoustics bids ,
Contribute towards marketing material.
An eagerness to learn building/architectural acoustics and a commitment to deliver outstanding design work,
Experience in creating stylised visualisation and photorealistic imagery as well as simpler, understated visuals,
Superb conceptual and design development skills with a track record of contributing to the design of complex projects,
Excellent 2D and 3D skills: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper ,SketchUp,
Very good graphic design skills: Photoshop, InDesign,
Good communication skills,
A strong work ethic and 'can do' attitude,
Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
BArch or Part I & II RIBA qualified
