Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a motivated individual to perform construction administration and inspection, quantity takeoffs, materials testing, and related assignments for Michigan Department of Transportation owned and local agency owned transportation facilities. In-service bridge inspections may also be performed.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Involved with ensuring that proper traffic control measures are implemented

  • Monitoring and recording the work and progress of contractors

  • Tracking material quality and usage among other responsibilities

  • Communicating with AECOM supervisors and peers, MDOT and local agency personnel, contractor personnel and the general public

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • 2+ years of MDOT or other state DOT construction inspection experience required, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • Basic understanding of construction principles and practices

  • Ability to document any and all relevant events, issues and variances

  • Good active written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers

  • Ability to perform basic computations and calculations

  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications

  • Basic computer skills such as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and the ability to learn to work with programs such as FieldBook and ProjectWise are required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, with good driving record

  • Weekend and night work may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Concrete Field Testing – Level 1 certification

  • Aggregate and Density Technician certification

  • HMA Inspection Certifications
