Job Summary

AECOM is seeking aOperations Manager for our Industrial Services group based in Alberta.

This position will typically, reporting to the Area Manager, the Operations Manager – Intermediate is accountable for managing budgets, human resources, and maximizing assets to complete current projects and develop new business opportunities in accordance with AECOM Oil & Gas practices and processes within a defined local geographic area in support of the regional and corporate strategic plans.

May include the following responsibilities:


  • Identifies new business opportunities and bids to secure new work.

  • Determines appropriate personnel and equipment are deployed to work site ensuring work order requirements are efficiently executed.

  • Ensures all equipment is maintained and in good working order.

  • Monitors new equipment development and work site activities.

  • Align the operational team to the contractual obligations and participate in contract review meetings

  • Conduct lessons learned sessions at key milestones identified within the plans in order to drive continuous improvement on our projects and processes.

  • Manage and apply risk management to any projects to ensure these risks are minimized

  • Work with the General Manager or assigned Vice president to establish, communicate and execute operational priorities.

  • Review and provide input into the projects turnover strategies (and commissioning where applicable). Work directly with the client to finalize agreements on the turnover plans (and commissioning when applicable) which will identify the roles & responsibilities

  • Monitor and engage functional support for Safety, Q/C, Recruitment and HR activities.

  • Evaluate and develop action plans for overall engagement of the BU team and DFL


  • Responsible for directing and coordinating day-to-day operational activities for a location or unit with revenues of up to $30 million.

  • Develop the operational budget for direct, indirect and SGA costs based on forecasted activity in the Business Unit.

  • Assist in budget reviews for projects, assessing direct and indirect costs and comparing to historical requirements.

  • Responds to sales or business requests for the satisfaction of customers.

  • Forecast operational revenues and margins. Conduct monthly analysis to identify opportunities to meet target

  • Manage operational cash flows by analyzing revenue in excess and accounts receivables. Drive actions within the operational team to achieve targets

  • Review all performance indicators on a weekly basis. Provide input and take actions where required to hit target.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Minimum of an undergraduate degree within Business Administration or equivalent.

  • 5 - 8+ years of Fluid Hauling Operations experience.

  • 3 - 7+ years supervisory/ management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of financial management processes including financial reporting requirements and budgeting processes

  • Solid understanding of the Industrial service line and applicable operational requirement
