Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

The Environment Division of AECOM is actively seeking a senior remediation design engineer for the Seattle Office. This position will support remediation projects by managing engineering design, construction, and operation and maintenance (O&M) tasks, and also serve as a technical and business development resource to a department of over 75 professionals. The selected candidate will be engaged in a wide range of projects under MTCA, CERCLA, RCRA, and local jurisdictions, and be responsible for engineering design project quality. The successful candidate will have experience supporting regulatory negotiation, stakeholder meetings, and preparing and delivering presentations in various settings. This role will require general, multi-disciplinary knowledge relating to environmental site assessments, remedial investigation, risk assessment, remedial alternatives evaluation, cost estimating, cleanup action plan preparation, remedial action operation and maintenance (O&M), and remedial action optimization.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership for conceptual design, detailed remediation design, process/instrumentation control design, project permitting, site construction, remediation system start-up and O&M, and remedial action optimization

  • Contribute directly to the preparation and review of technical project deliverables (e.g., feasibility studies, engineering design reports, plans and specifications, construction reports and as-built drawings)

  • Contribute on projects regarding technical approach, numerical analysis, cost estimation, planning, design, scheduling, staffing, budget management, quality control, and safety

  • Project scheduling and development of engineering cost estimates

  • Prepare technical and status reports involving complex numerical analysis

  • Perform engineering calculations (e.g., head loss, soil volumes, COC mass, mass removal/destruction efficiencies)

  • Support business growth by developing, maintaining, and enhancing client relationships, and preparing proposals

  • Strengthen and expand client relationships and business. Job duties will involve both field and office assignments with occasional overnight travel required

  • Expected to work with and lead a team of mid- to-senior level remediation engineers

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 10+ Years Remediation Engineering Design, Construction, and Operations and Maintenance experience

  • Experience with Thermal, Solidification, Chemical, Biological, and Other In Situ Remedial Technologies

  • Demonstrated Remedial Cost Estimating and Proposal Preparation Experience

  • Demonstrated MTCA or CERCLA Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated Ability to Communicate with Clients, Manage Multiple Projects and Meet Deadlines

  • Licensed Washington State Professional Engineer or Ability to Obtain License Using Reciprocity

  • Current HAZWOPER Certification and Demonstrated Commitment to Safety

  • Energetic and Detail-Oriented, with Collaborative Style and Innovative Approach

  • Solid Oral, Written, and Presentation Communication Skills

  • Ability to Lead a Team of Junior to Senior-Level Remediation Engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • 15+ years remediation engineering design experience
