Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Santa Barbara office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in environmental science and regulatory project management, including procuring and managing industrial and municipal planning, permitting and compliance related projects across multiple client sectors. The successful candidate will be a project manager and senior technical resource within the Environmental Planning Group, and will be considered a senior role within the Central California region with primary responsibility for managing projects and/or tasks on major projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Independently managing projects and project teams to complete environmental science and regulatory planning projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients

  • Managing the efforts of one or more project teams and providing overall technical guidance, fostering successful client relationships, managing project budgets and schedules, and assuring quality control of the project deliverables

  • Working closely with the staff in AECOM's environmental planning group within Central Coast and southern California regional offices (e.g., Camarillo, Santa Maria, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego) and may be asked to provide leadership on various pursuits or initiatives

  • Responsible for strategizing and preparing proposals for upcoming contracts in Central California.

  • Initiating and maintaining extensive contacts with key subject matter experts and environmental managers within local, state and federal agencies.

  • Supervising more junior staff by assigning work and ensuring appropriate training

  • Consistently tracking and positioning the firm for future procurements in the environmental planning industry

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field

  • 8+ years of relevant professional work experience

  • Actively involved in professional organizations such as AEP or AWMA

  • Ability and eagerness to pursue existing and new clients and apply advance planning and project management skills

  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Strong skills in managing diverse team members and subcontractors

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Must be a motivated self-starter

  • Must be quality oriented performer
