Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Stormwater Project Coordinator for immediate employment in Sandy Springs, GA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the daily construction and maintenance activities for City of Sandy Springs' Stormwater Unit projects which may include stormwater infrastructure, paving, maintenance work order reviews, etc. as needed.

  • Prepares scopes of work to be advertised through the City’s purchasing department related to stormwater infrastructure improvements/rehabilitation

  • Contacts public regarding stormwater/drainage related concerns and maintains City’s customer service database related to these inquiries

  • Participates in formal pre-construction meetings for proposed projects

  • Remains current on Municipal and industry construction practices

  • Monitors materials & construction work of the most complex nature performed by contractors on various stormwater capital and maintenance projects to ensure that project schedules and contract provisions/specifications are being met

  • Maintains complete and accurate construction & financial records for assigned projects in accordance with Federal, State, Department, and City policies (Davis Bacon Wage reporting requirements, etc.)

  • Monitors the implementation of necessary safety traffic control and erosion control measures consistent with contract documents and applicable guidelines at construction site

  • Verifies public and worker safety and keep construction disruptions to the environment and traveling public to a minimum

  • Represents the Department to the public that may be affected by the construction of various projects

  • Maintains assigned vehicle to prescribed preventive maintenance standards, and submits vehicular reports in a timely manner

  • Responsible for the overall progress of the project as well as the scheduling of contractors/workers and the delivery of equipment and materials

  • Demonstrated competency in visualizing problems and recommending solutions to problems

  • Resolves contract disputes and arranges any necessary order changes

  • Records daily work activity via written reports and photographs and completes necessary erosion and sediment site compliance reviews/inspections and paperwork

  • May lead and direct the work of others

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, landscape architecture, or architecture and/or demonstrated equivalent, combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience or related engineering field

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Experience managing projects or working as a construction inspector

  • Ability to read and understand work orders, project plans, specifications and standards and apply knowledge to construction inspection work

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Strong organizational, technical, and communications skills

  • Commitment to working efficiently to complete tasks within allotted schedule constraints

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, (including daily, weekend and holidays) as determined by management as necessary to meet the business needs

  • Job requires employee to perform duties at a job site, at times working along and at times working very closely with others

  • Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and up to twenty pounds of force frequently

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with interdisciplinary and utility coordination for general site development

  • Construction administration and inspections experience
