AECOM is actively seeking a CIP Field Superintendent for immediate employment.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Oversees the daily construction and maintenance activities for the City of Sandy Springs’ Capital Improvement projects which may include paving, maintenance work order reviews, transportation project construction, stormwater infrastructure, etc. as needed
Reviews project plans and proposals and contracts for roadway and bridge projects
Participates in formal pre-construction meetings for proposed projects
Monitors materials and construction work of the most complex nature performed by contractors on various roadway, stormwater and, bridge projects to ensure that the contract provisions and specifications are being met
Maintains complete and accurate construction and financial records for assigned projects in accordance with Federal, State, Department and City policies (Davis Bacon Wage reporting requirements, etc.)
Monitors the implementation of necessary safety traffic control and erosion control measures consistent with contract documents and applicable guidelines at construction site
Verifies public and worker safety and keeps construction disruptions to the environment and traveling public to a minimum
Gathers field engineering and survey data and performs construction layout calculations and field construction surveys, as required
Monitors force account (if applicable) and utility and work in area of assignment
Confers with state, county, municipal officials as well as stakeholders and utility forces in areas of assignment
Represents the department to the public that may be affected by the construction of various projects
Establishes good working relationships
Maintains assigned vehicle t6o prescribed preventive maintenance standards and submits vehicular reports in a timely manner
Learns to manage complex construction projects, examples of those managed may include large resurfacing projects or sidewalk installation projects
Responsible for the overall progress of the project as well as the scheduling of contractors/workers and the delivery of equipment and materials
Works with contractors to complete project within the given budget and time frame
Resolves contract disputes and arranges any necessary order changes
Records daily work activity via written reports and photographs and completes necessary erosion and sediment site compliance reviews/inspections and paperwork
May lead and direct the work of others
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction or related field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
3+ years of experience working as a construction inspector with an emphasis on transportation improvement and/or stormwater infrastructure projects
Ability to read and understand work orders, project plans, specifications and standards and apply knowledge to construction inspection work
May be required to travel to project work sites and may be required to work on nights, weekends and holidays as well as rotational on-call work of up to one week per month
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Must possess a valid driver's license
Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Ability to remain current on municipal and industry construction practices
Demonstrated competency in visualizing problems and recommending solutions to problems
