Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM has an immediate need for a detail-oriented, experienced Change Order Cost Estimator for our program management team for Caltrain’s $2B Peninsula Corridor Electrification Program. You will fill a critical role in the successful delivery of one of the most significant transit infrastructure programs in Northern California, electrifying 50 miles of a commuter rail system from San Francisco to San Jose.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Report to the agency’s Program Management Director

  • Develop independent cost estimates (ICE) for proposed changes in the design-builder’s scope of work.

  • Coordinate with scheduler who will analyze the schedule impact

  • Compare and contrast design-builder’s pricing with ICE and prepare pre-negotiation position document for the Construction Manager’s (CM’s) use in negotiation

  • Participate in negotiation meetings with design-builder when CM requests

  • Prepare Record of Negotiation when requested

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

  • 11+ years of experience estimating electrical power distribution systems including high voltage

  • Experience with transportation projects

  • Experience with design-build projects, and estimating design and construction changes

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with federally funded projects, especially FTA-funded projects

  • Experience negotiating change orders on design-build contracts

  • Experience on rail transit projects
