Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Field Engineer to be based in our San Luis Potosí, Mexico location.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

  • Provides construction site engineering resources and expertise during construction phases of projects to interpret designs, adjust designs to meet site conditions.

  • Oversees construction supervision, and provides direction to ensure construction conforms to design criteria.

  • Facilitates construction and start-up activities. Ensures that the design engineering requirements are complied with by reviewing all design drawings/specifications and making daily field inspections as may be required to support quality functions.

  • Reviews cost controls and reports.

  • Submits required project submittals for approval.

  • Prepares construction related reports based on job site inspections. Keeps project management informed of major cost overruns and under-runs.

  • Assists in developing, updating and monitoring planning and scheduling flow charts.

  • Performs all engineering tasks using standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Interprets plans and specifications.

  • Prepares project schedules.

  • Prepares miscellaneous reports for project management providing information required to prepare the necessary submittals, designs, layouts, etc. involved in the construction of the assigned project.

  • Prepares and reviews subcontracts, change orders and contract value engineering claims and verifies requests for payment by subcontractors.

  • Reviews and analyzes production reports. Coordinates subcontractors' activities.

  • Reviews, verifies and reports quantities to the project controls department.

  • Requisitions and assures delivery of construction materials.

  • Obtains necessary permits and coordinates construction activities with city and state inspection agencies.

  • Responsible for documentation of and distribution of all design changes and field modifications.

  • Works with other project entities to assure proper content and assembly of start-up work packages.

  • Works with home office engineering, original equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve issues.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or demonstrated combination of education/training and experience.


  • 4 years experience in the industrial construction industry.

  • Familiar with cost control and scheduling.

  • Experience in preparing and reviewing subcontracts and change orders.

  • Prior experience on a large industrial project.

  • Computer proficient in MS Office.

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • Automotive experience.
