Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transit/Rail Senior Project Manager for immediate employment in the San Jose, CA office. The individual will be responsible in providing leadership and strategic guidance to the transit rail sub-business line. This position will require frequent interaction and collaboration with counterparts locally and in other regions to pursue, win, and successfully manage and execute work for AECOM.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the development and execution of project(s) scope, schedule and budget preparation of project updates, presentations, recommendations and other project plans Review and development of progress and status reports

  • Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in a large, complex project or several moderately sized projects with greater risk and complexity, and significant financial impact

  • Resolves complex issues

  • Manages projects on a local to national basis achieving quality outcomes, financial performance and client satisfaction

  • Successfully develops strategy, prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, and executes project(s)

  • An act as primary point of contact with client and has full responsibility for project delivery; Project teams may include 10 or more members often representing multiple business lines, working in remote locations and including subcontractor(s)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in managing transit design and construction projects

  • Ability to understand and interpret civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings

  • Experience in managing railroad work scope, budgets and schedules

  • Strong technical and project coordination skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Knowledge of railroad operations

  • Knowledge of Project Management scheduling and estimating

  • Knowledge of railroad engineering specifications and standards

  • Knowledge of construction when working in proximity to railroad operations

  • Proficient in the use of personal computer and office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of related experience

  • Professional Engineer license (PE)

  • Knowledge of large commuter rail organization(s) and operations
