Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Certified Engineering Geologist for immediate employment in the San Jose, CA office. This is a part-time variable position, meaning work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate as geologic lead in complex, multi-disciplinary projects requiring specialized drilling and geophysical investigative techniques, fault trenching investigations, detailed geologic mapping, and landslide studies

  • Work under minimal supervision to perform engineering geologic studies requiring independent decisions and diversified experience

  • Prepare engineering geologic reports, geologic maps and sections and interpretations of subsurface conditions

  • Assist in review and preparation of relevant sections of geotechnical reports and documents

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 15+ years relevant work experience

  • California registered Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist

  • Oregon registered Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist

  • Possess thorough job knowledge and competence in all aspects of engineering geologic studies, geologic hazards evaluations, subsurface investigations, foundation investigations, and investigations and construction observation for dams, pipelines and tunnels

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 30+ years of extensive experience required in geologic hazards evaluations, groundwater investigations and testing, rock slope and soil stability evaluations and geologic feasibility and siting studies for buildings (including schools and hospitals), bridges, roadways, pipelines, dams, and tunnels

  • Experience in subsurface exploration techniques using several types of soil sampling and testing methods, regular and oriented core logging, geotechnical instrumentation, geologic mapping and interpretation and construction inspection and observation
