Job Summary

The Strategic Planning Group within AECOM is seeking an Architectural / Engineering Designer III for the San Francisco, CA office to support several large asset management and strategic planning projects for both public and private clients.

The Designer should be able to demonstrate an established career within architecture or engineering, but not be seeking a pure design position. Our projects are large, complex and multidisciplinary, and our tight-knit team is characterized by people who are willing to stretch, and learn. This is a team of self-starters who don’t wait to be asked when a task is in front of them. A good sense of humor also helps.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Performing work related to asset management and strategic planning, including building projects from identified deficiencies, Quality Assurance checks of surveyor work, developing new approaches and tools for improving project performance

  • Performing field assessments

  • Technical writing

  • Research

  • Giving presentations to clients and running workshops

  • Long range strategic planning

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering or related field required

  • 5+ years' experience

  • Background in architecture or engineering, but is seeking a related opportunity outside of pure design

  • Experienced, self-directed professional with some experience managing clients, schedules and budgets

  • Good written and verbal communication skills a must

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and AutoCAD

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years' experience preferred

  • Sustainability, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience a plus but not a requirement

  • Background in Architecture strongly preferred

  • Experience in Asset Management (building assessment, O&M, building engineering, capital planning) a plus.

  • Knowledge of architectural or engineering systems is very helpful
