Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Project Architect for immediate employment in the San Diego, CA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Managers in the Design Review process for all project related deliverables with stakeholders, including but not limited to organizing stakeholder engagement process, review comment process, page turn process and comment reconciliation process

  • Participate in the weekly design reviews with stakeholders including but not limited to preparing presentations, meeting with designers and contractors and presenting it to stakeholders in collaboration with designers and contractors

  • Prepare project specific scopes of work for all consultants in collaboration with Authority staff.

  • Review all design and deliverables, bid packages, contract documents and design changes, submittals, and RFIs related to the trade package’s coordination and conformance to the program requirements

  • Participate in project coordination and design review meetings to identify interfaces and coordination requirements

  • Monitor design and construction progress against the project parameters

  • Address Operations and Maintenance issues in the design, including issues that may interfere with operations or maintainability of facilities and utilities

  • Review design documents for compliance with Airport Authority’s A&E Requirements, guidelines and standards

  • Review and monitor to ensure RFIs, submittals, and field changes are addressed in a timely manner

  • Assist with bid package bid review and award recommendation of work authorization packages/GMP

  • Contribute to the advancement of San Diego Airport’s goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in design or management of large, complex building projects, including 2+ years of experience in designing or managing Airport Terminal projects and tenant improvement projects

  • Understanding of MEP, IT, Communications, F&LS, and Security Systems

  • Effective, team-oriented communication and leadership style

  • Self-starter who is comfortable with taking initiative

  • Excellent written and oral skills, including ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience

  • Ability to take on additional tasks as the project requires

  • Familiarity with CADD and BIM programs as necessary

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Project Management (ePM) and GroupWise
