AECOM is seeking a high level Facility Maintenance Technician for our pharmaceutical maintenance team in San Diego, CA! Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday; various hours may be required based on business demand.
This position is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in performing preventive maintenance, responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing emergency repairs on the building equipment, fixtures and systems in a research environment.
Working under minimal supervision, this is a multi-craft position that may perform preventive maintenance and repair to mechanical equipment and systems; commercial HVAC equipment such as air handlers, exhaust fans, pumps, and motors; lamps and ballasts; internal building structure (walls, doors and door hardware, ceiling tiles, and various flooring materials), general plumbing; and office moves.
The Facility Maintenance Technician IV must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
Performs general maintenance and repair duties on a variety of facility systems
Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines nature of problem, and executes appropriate solution.
Ensures all appropriate building standards are maintained at a high level of quality.
Operates hand and power tools and mechanical equipment effectively and safely complies with safety requirements including use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
May assist specialized technicians in completing work assignments.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Provides excellent customer service and feedback on all work orders while ensuring compliance to codes, regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE as required.
Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
Operates equipment such as hand tools, computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, while remaining flexible in the day-to-day activities for the benefit of the customer.

High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Five years of experience maintaining buildings, facilities, or equipment a pharmaceutical, medical, industrial, or large commercial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualified applicants offered a position must be able to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.
Qualified applicants must submit to and pass a Tuberculosis test prior to employment, or be medically cleared for Tuberculosis by a medical professional, and be able to maintain annual negative results.
Qualified applicants must pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position requires a valid Driver’s License.

This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Associate’s degree in HVAC, industrial mechanical, industrial electrical, or a related skilled trade.
Experience utilizing a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
Experience working in a large pharmaceutical manufacturing / research and development facility.
Experience working on industrial HVAC systems and associated equipment including steam systems.
Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing facility mechanical systems and equipment, such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply and exhaust fans, power transmission components, overhead and service doors, etc.
Experience patching drywall and wall paper, replacing ceiling tiles, patching concrete, and repairing a variety flooring materials.
Ability to read and understand repair manuals and drawings. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, including applying proper safety practices and following procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
Experience utilizing Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
