Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Archaeology Technician for immediate employment for the San Diego, CA office. The Archaeological Technician is primarily a field position and is engaged in archaeological and cultural resource projects throughout San Diego County. This position is VARIABLE PART-TIME, primarily for field projects in San Diego County and work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Conducts field work as assigned as part of a project

  • Conducts and compiles background research

  • Assists in the processing and analysis of historic and/or prehistoric artifacts

  • Assists in writing regarding findings

  • Assists in report preparation

  • Assists in developing presentations for clients

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • Experience in archaeological monitoring

  • Must be willing to travel locally to conduct field work

  • Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Valid Driver's License is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology or related field

  • Minimum 1 year experience in San Diego County, California

  • 2+ years of archaeological field experience including reconnaissance, survey, testing and site mitigation in the western United States

  • Experience conducting artifact cataloging and analysis

  • Experience conducting records searches

  • Prior experience on utilities contract projects
