AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM’s Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.

Job Summary

The Aircraft Mechanic 1 will perform daily flight line operations to comply with requirements of aircraft performing mission requirements. Aircraft Mechanic 1 may also be tasked with flight schedule and daily operation of flight line.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with the movement of aircraft near hangar area or flight line. Secures aircraft in parking position with chocks and tie down chains. Assist Aircraft worker with securing of blades.

  2. Replenishes fuel, oil, water, waste system chemicals, oxygen, and hydraulic fluid.

  3. Checks for fuel contamination by draining samples from low point drains.

  4. Operates ground support equipment such as electrical power supply, tow tractors, light carts and engine starting units.

  5. Cleans exterior and/or interior of aircraft, using portable platform ladders, brushes, rags, water hose, and vacuum.

  6. Assists with all equipment pre-operational check and maintenance of all work center support equipment.

  7. Aircraft flight line servicing, operates service vehicles to replenish fuel and oil, assists with pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, enters in the maintenance records description of the servicing performed, checks for fuel contamination by draining pumps and fuel drains.

  8. Operates ground support equipment such as electrical power supply, tow tractors, and engine starting units, assists in towing aircraft and cleans exterior and interior of aircraft, hangar deck.

  9. Periodic housekeeping and fluid spills using portable platform ladders, brushes, rags, water hose, cleaning compound applicator and mobile vacuum.

  10. Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program.

  11. Handling and disposing of hazmat.

  12. Comply with all safety requirements.

  13. Obtain Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative qualification.

  14. Comply with all safety requirements.

  15. Handling and disposing of Hazmat.

  16. Obtain all support equipment licenses for job description.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum 3 years H-60 Line operations.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) or Rapid Gate Pass.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred.

Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.

Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.

Successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen and a U.S. Government background security check is required.
