Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Technical Coordinator for immediate employment in the San Diego, CA office. Position will be physically working on site at the San Diego Airport.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform interdisciplinary and inter program component coordination including but not limited to Airside, Terminal, and landside elements. Collaborate with consultant groups in written and oral forms of communication

  • Perform tenant build-out coordination. Collaborate with Tenant’s stakeholder group. Work with Airline technical representative on an on-going basis

  • Research, analyze and recommend resolutions to technical requirements of the project

  • Organize and manage peer reviews, independent reviews and technical reviews as required by the project team

  • Review all design and deliverables, bid packages, contract documents and design changes, submittals, and RFIs related to the trade package’s coordination and conformance to the program requirements

  • Support Managers in the Design Review process for all project related deliverables with stakeholders, including but not limited to organizing stakeholder engagement process, review comment process, page turn process and comment reconciliation process

  • Participate in the weekly design reviews with stakeholders including but not limited to preparing presentations, meeting with designers and contractors and presenting it to stakeholders in collaboration with designers and contractors

  • Prepare project specific scopes of work for all consultants in collaboration with Authority staff

  • Participate in project coordination and design review meetings to identify interfaces and coordination requirements

  • Monitor design and construction progress against the project parameters

  • Address Operations and Maintenance issues in the design, including issues that may interfere with operations or maintainability of facilities and utilities

  • Review design documents for compliance with Airport Authority’s A&E Requirements, guidelines and standards

  • Review and monitor to ensure RFIs, submittals, and field changes are addressed in a timely manner

  • Assist with bid package bid review and award recommendation of work authorization packages/GMP

  • Contribute to the advancement of ADC’s goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in design or management of large, complex building projects

  • 10+ years of experience in designing or managing Airport Terminal projects and Airport improvement projects

  • Proficient in design and construction requirements for the Terminal Apron, Terminal building and landside components

  • Understanding of MEP, IT, Communications, F&LS, and Security Systems

  • Effective, team-oriented communication and leadership style

  • Self-starter, comfortable with taking initiative

  • Excellent written and oral skills including ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience

  • Ability to take on additional tasks as the project requires

  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite

  • Familiarity with CADD and BIM programs as necessary

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in design or management of large, complex building projects

  • 15+ years of experience in designing or managing Airport Terminal projects and Airport improvement projects

  • Knowledge of Electronic Project Management (ePM) and GroupWise software
