We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Geotechnical Engineer for immediate employment in our Salt Lake City office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Geotechnical Engineering specific to design and construction of dams, levees, pavement, transportation, pipelines, mining, and other infrastructure related projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes and advancing CPTs at various sites throughout Utah

  • Review and assign geotechnical samples for laboratory testing

  • Assemble and document geotechnical data using software that includes: Excel, Word, gINT, and AutoCAD

  • Perform geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, bearing capacity, and shallow and deep foundations

  • Preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations

  • Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design

  • Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents

  • Use or supervise use of computer-assisted engineering and design software, including computer simulation models to prepare engineering and design analysis and documents

  • Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of project team

  • Inspect construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards

  • Provide technical analyses

  • Communicate and interact with project managers and other project staff

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience

  • EIT

  • Experience performing geotechnical field investigations, foundation construction observations, geotechnical engineering analyses

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Valid drivers license

  • Ability to interpret design drawings and produce comprehensive and accurate written reports

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

  • Experience using geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, UTEXAS, Slide or other similar software

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree Geotechnical Engineering

  • Utah PE registration

  • OSHA 40 hour Hazwoper trained
