We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

The Salt Lake City Geotechnical Team of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Geotechnical Engineer for immediate employment in the Salt Lake City, UT office. The geotechnical team within the Water Business Line is responsible for providing engineering and design services in support of multidisciplinary projects, including mining, tailings dams, water dams, pavement design, and transportation projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical exploration programs including assigning laboratory testing

  • Guiding staff engineers in performing material characterization, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses

  • Preparing geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications

  • Supporting project manager in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks

  • Preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients

  • Conducting field observations and site visits

  • Assisting project managers with geotechnical proposals

  • Geo-technical report preparation, analysis, calculations, preparation of drawings and specifications, document generation, construction oversight field sampling activities, and other related services associated with the full scope of a civil engineering design project

  • Interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within AECOM

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering

  • Professional Engineer registration

  • Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications

  • Experience in dam design or evaluation

  • Experience with AutoCAD, slope stability and seepage analysis programs

  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills

  • Effective time-management and interpersonal skills

  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • Task lead and project management experience​
