We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

The Water Resources Department of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Water Resource Engineer for immediate employment in the Sacramento, CA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Water Resources planning and design and can look forward to a wide variety of projects. The selected candidate will support a variety of flood control, water supply, and environmental restoration projects.

Types of projects include levee repair, design of hydraulic structures, design of water conveyance facilities including large diameter pipelines, storm drainage and pumping facilities, engineering for pumped storage facilities, wetlands and stream restoration, water supply planning, floodplain management, stream hydrology and hydraulics, and engineering support during construction.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting and supporting field investigations

  • Conducting water resource planning and engineering analyses

  • Performing engineering studies

  • Preparing construction documents, reports and design documentation

  • Undertaking and contributing to technical aspects of projects from feasibility to detailed design

  • Participating in teams involved with project delivery through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering through construction closeout and operations

  • Investigating, developing and modeling of water resources projects

  • Participating in the development of proposals, engineering estimates and work plans

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in water resources

  • 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering

  • California Registered Civil Engineer

  • Experience preparing construction documents (construction plans and specifications)

  • Experience preparing feasibility studies and engineering reports

  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary project delivery teams

  • Strong background in proposals and presentations

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Civil Engineering
