AECOM’s Sacramento office is seeking a professional with experience and expertise managing the preparation of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.
The successful candidate would become a part of a dynamic northern California environmental planning team that enjoys excellent relationships with a wide range of local, regional, and State agencies, as well as private and nonprofit clients. Our Sacramento office has built a reputation for innovation, high-quality work, attentive client service, and a collegial office culture that fosters the highest degree of teamwork. AECOM’s Sacramento-based projects often combine environmental analysis and review with urban design, policy planning, engineering and design, and other related elements. We are seeking a Senior Environmental Planning Project Manager who will help us expand our local planning practice by supporting existing clients and developing new clients.
This role will involve client engagement and project management, which could involve small-, medium-, and large-scale projects for both public- and private-sector clients. The types of projects managed would depend on the background and interests of the successful candidate, but could include work related to urban development, recreation and open space planning, transportation and other infrastructure improvements, master planning, energy generation and distribution, greenhouse gas reduction, water quality, stormwater management, land conservation, flood protection, climate resilience, transit-oriented development, and other types of projects.
This position will involve business development in the candidate’s areas of strength and interest, working as part of our successful team to anticipate and pursue future work. If there is interest, the successful candidate could also supervise and mentor staff, lead external workshops on technical innovations and legal/regulatory changes related to environmental planning, publish work relevant to practitioners, and engage in other internal and external activities that would help to grow our practice.
This position would focus on projects in northern California, including the Central Valley, Sierra Nevada and the Bay Area, but may include work elsewhere in California, the U.S., or possibly international locations, if there is an interest by the successful candidate. AECOM’s interdisciplinary capabilities, geographic breadth, and market presence provide substantial opportunities for growth including technical skills, practice growth and development, client development, and staff supervision and management.
8+ years of experience, including project management, CEQA and/or NEPA analysis and documentation
Strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of California urban and natural resource issues, federal and state regulatory requirements and processes
A record of leading successful environmental planning projects
Successful record in business development
10+ years' preferred
