Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Field Engineer to work as part of an established engineering and construction team for various water-related projects within the Northern California region. These projects consist of design, construction, rehabilitation, repair, and inspection of various dams, levees, spillways, pump stations, etc. throughout Northern California.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical support to Project Managers, including design, analysis, inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of water-related projects, including dams, levees, spillways, etc.

  • Oversees field site activities on multiple small projects

  • Review design and on-site construction and/or engineering documents to confirm accuracy

  • Prepare and/or submit project submittals for reviews to project managers and other staff

  • Prepare external and internal reports regarding progress

  • Assist PM with engineering aspects of project when communicating with customer

  • Communicate critical field based information back to PM as necessary

  • Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Ability to adjust to changing job environments and desire to work in the field

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong desire to continuously improve technical skills and quality

  • Available for work/travel outside normal office hours & inter-departments, as required

  • Thorough knowledge of engineering and/or construction principles, practices, and procedures, applicable laws, and relevant government regulations

  • Work well under pressure with an organized approach to managing tasks, time and workload

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SharePoint

  • Display strong attention to detail with the ability to research & review documents and draw conclusions to support recommendations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness and ability to relocate to project sites

  • U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a related discipline

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience

  • Licensed and/or registrated as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
