Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Fills role of Project Interior Designer/Interior Architect for a variety of project types within a multi-disciplinary design team throughout the design process (programming, concept design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration). Typically works under the supervision of a Design Director

  • In collaboration with project leadership, assesses project scope of work and develops an achievable work plan to execute the scope within budget and on schedule.

  • Collaborates with clients, Design Directors and other discipline project leads to establish and document project programmatic requirements

  • Works as part of an integrated design team to develop design solutions meeting the project vision, functional and technical requirements within the contracted terms of schedule and budget

  • Develops facility and furniture space planning solutions, coordinating with other design disciplines to ensure compliance with relevant building, accessibility and life-safety codes

  • Develops construction documents and specifications including floor, ceiling, finish, furniture, millwork and signage plans and supporting design details.

  • Provides leadership and project coordination to teams of junior interior designers and architects

  • Communicates design solutions to internal project team members as well as to client representatives

  • Serves as a mentor to junior interior designers/architects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accredited interior design or architecture program

  • 5+ years’ experience working as an interior designer/architect in a commercial interior design/architecture practice

  • Professional certification/registration with National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) or National Council of Architectural Review Board (NCARB)

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to manage project deadlines in a fast paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for fostering engagement with project teams and client representatives

  • Experienced in programming, space planning and development of interior design solutions for a variety of project types

  • Proficient in FF&E design services, including planning, specifications, procurement and installation oversight

  • Experienced in building, accessibility and life-safety codes relevant to commercial and government interior architecture planning and design services

  • Experienced in working as part of an integrated architecture and engineering team to coordinate integration of interiors with mechanical, electrical, lighting, telecommunications, fire protection and audio-visual project aspects

  • Experienced in the determination, selection, and specification of interior building materials for commercial, healthcare and government facilities

  • Strong communicator in written, verbal and graphic formats

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion as required

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Virtual Reality, and modeling/visualization tools

  • LEED Certification
