Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a MEP BIM Manager for employment in the Roanoke, VA office to lead office wide Building Engineering’s strategic efforts related to Building Information Modeling. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to conduct team meetings, develop polices, plans and standards.

The MEP BIM Manager understands the strategic importance of BIM for project delivery, while also being proficient at producing a wide range of work using BIM tools. The successful candidate will report to the Building Engineering Manager while coordinating with the Office BIM Manager to serve as the office champion for MEP related BIM strategies, education, and leadership. The office’s Building Engineering Practice consists of nearly 70 staff. The successful candidate will have broad capabilities in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Electrical discipline BIM execution.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Report on the office’s current and projected state in regards to MEP BIM implementation

  • Create, upgrade and deploy strategies for MEP BIM implementation effort

  • Evaluate the office's current workflow, strategies, budgets, projects, staffing, etc and make recommendations, then follow through to ensure success

  • Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies and make recommendations based upon office needs, workflow process and efficiencies

  • Manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and customization

  • Manage the implementation of supporting software, custom toolbars, macros and other programing for BIM

  • From time to time, serve as a project level BIM leader

  • Support coordination of project standards with customers

  • Assist project teams in BIM project setup

  • Create families and manage BIM content

  • Communicate with subcontractors to receive, coordinate and update all electronic models

  • Provide IT with hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production

  • Provide MEP BIM Fundamental/Intermediate training and continuing education to staff

  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM; bringing back learning and disseminating the information to appropriate teams

  • Identify trends and business opportunities relating to BIM

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 5+ years Building Engineering BIM leadership experience

  • Expert level knowledge of Autodesk Revit

  • In-depth knowledge of technology based collaboration systems

  • Proven prior experience with large & complex BIM project delivery

  • Proven coordination process experience including working with consultants using multiple platforms

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and multiple deadlines

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other team members and disciplines. Effective written and verbal communication skills a must.

  • US Citizenship required

  • Ability to obtain DoD Clearance

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional years of experience

  • BIM Certification

  • Secret or Top Secret DoD clearance

  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) registration
