Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Archaeological Field Technician. The position can be based in London, Richmond Hill or Barrie, Ontario. This is a Part-Time Variable position, meaning work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis. Duration of the contracts are mid-March till December 15, 2017; overtime will be required at times.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform strenuous archaeological fieldwork outside in all weather conditions

  • Identify artifacts and collect them in a controlled manner

  • Collaborate in a team environment

  • Follow direction of archaeology supervisors

  • Ability to work out of town for long periods of time

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Physical strength, attention to detail and determination

  • Willingness to learn

  • Experience in outdoor physical labor

  • Willingness to travel to different project/work sites

  • Archaeological field work, artifact analysis or other related workexperienceis required - i.e. Landscaping, general construction labour, farming and etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of archaeological fieldwork and techniques

  • Artifact analysis and identification experience

  • Knowledge of the MTCS Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists

  • One season of archaeological fieldwork experience or one year of artifact analysis experience
