Job Responsibilities/Duties

Electrical Engineering Design Authority for the LAWPS project, a large engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project to build a facility to pretreat Hanford tank waste for delivery to the LAW vitrification facility of the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP). Role includes development/review of Electrical requirements to be specified to the design agency, review of design products from the design agency, and advising engineering management on process topics relative to the LAWPS project. Interfaces with a team of design authority engineers, safety professionals, other tank farm process engineers and management, oversees work executed by the subcontracted Design Agency. Under administrative direction, plans, develops and executes electrical engineering tasks which may contain unique engineering problems having important impact on projects. Provides analysis and recommendations based on independent activity and progressive work experience. Demonstrates high level of interpolative thinking and mature engineering judgment. Provides decision making and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. May assume staff leadership responsibilities as assigned by Engineering Management. Provides engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget of an assigned project. Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to development of new principles and concepts. Comply with WRPS policies and procedures. Ensure ISMS Principles are incorporated into organization's activities. Develops and maintains expertise in the applicable Engineering discipline. Prepares design/engineering documentation in accordance with procedures, standards, codes, and regulations. Leads, mentors, and develops subordinate engineering staff in area of expertise Provides information routine assessments (Management Observation Program [MOP]) of engineering process and products Assist Engineering Manager to close PERs (Corrective Actions) and/or address oversight issues or findings. Take ownership of all tasks under area of responsibility. Provide off-hours supervision and leadership to subordinates as needed. Meet schedule commitments and/or develop recovery plans when dates are projected to be missed. Maintain daily awareness of work being performed by those working under your leadership. Ensure subordinate staff are meeting expectations for technical quality, schedule, and cost performance May lead multi-discipline teams on moderately large tasks. Contribute to the professional development of direct staff. Identify staffing needs and initiate requisitions for additional staff.

Required Qualifications

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years related experience.

Desired Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to facilitate project milestones. Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate to peers and management.Must take prompt action to accomplish assigned objectives and understand/identify issues and opportunities.Experience with nuclear application of Engineering tasks.EIT; PE License
