About the Business Line
We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer for immediate employment. This position is intended to be full time at the customer’s facilities in Quantico, VA. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected
Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works. Determines and develops approaches to solutions to a wide range of difficult technical problems
Gathers and correlates electrical engineering data associated with assigned projects using established and well-defined procedures
Exercises judgment in developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Reviews the proposed solutions with the responsible engineer and agrees on a path forward
Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Assistance is provided on unusual problems and work is reviewed for application of sound professional judgment
Routinely prepares Project Scopes of Work, Basis of project cost estimates and supports the cost engineer in developing accurate cost estimates for budgeting of projects
Routinely conducts inspections and walk-downs of construction in progress, prepares status reports and punch list
Routinely investigates technical aspects of operational issues, analyzes the apparent problems and prepares reports recommending corrective actions
Reviews contractor designs and submittals for technical content, completeness, accuracy and applkicability to the project at hand
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of experience, with at least 2 years of field and/or construction experience which includes overseeing and coordinating technical aspects of small to mid-size projects
Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia or the ability to obtain VA registration through reciprocity from another state
Understanding of electrical power systems for commercial, government, and/or institutional facilities. This includes an understanding of electrical system load and short circuit analysis
Understanding of lighting and lighting control systems for commercial, Government and institutional facilities. This includes familiarity with lighting calculations, occupancy control, and application of state of the art materials to projects
Familiarity with the National Electric Code
Displayed ability to execute complete, accurate and coordinated project design assignments on time and within budget. Understands overall project constraints including design budget limitations and schedule requirements
Interact and communicate effectively with other team members and disciplines. Effective written and verbal communication skills a must
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Proficient with MS office suite of products including Work , Excel, and Power Point
TS or interim TS security clearance required. Ability to pass the initial Site Specific Government Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
Direct Experience with facilities, federal buildings and campus applications and projects. This includes working in a high volume environment working multiple projects at any one time
Direct experience with power systems modifications and operational trouble shooting including grounding systems, UPS systems, small stand-by and emergency generators, lighting systems, and low voltage power distribution
Federal buildings and campus applications
Physically able to climb ladders and enter crawlspaces and mechanical equipment spaces
