Position Title Mid Level Bridge Design Engineer

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Bridge Design Engineer for employment in the Providence, RI office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as a bridge designer for a wide variety of local design projects including grade separations, bridge rehabilitations, railroad bridges, and design-build pursuits

  • Work as a bridge designer on national complex structural design projects

  • Perform structure design for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation

  • Utilize technical writing skills to write specifications, feasibility studies, evaluations, and reports

  • Serve as bridge inspection team member as part of our local bridge inspection contract

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in bridge design, rehabilitation, and/or inspection

  • Experience using AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications

  • Ability to perform work in the field safely and effectively

  • Ability to work with various multi-disciplined teams and communicate effectively with engineers from other disciplines

  • Areas of experience include: bridge design, plans preparation, construction cost estimates, technical specifications

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and industry design software

  • Experience with or ability to learn SAP, Vertis, Mathcad; Leap software; MIDAS Civil or other structural analysis package

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis

  • PE or eligible to acquire a PE

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Experience with RIDOT projects

  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects
