Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Supervising Discipline Engineer to be based in our Princeton, NJ office.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Responsible for managing groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists on projects with minimal guidance or supervision. Assigns preparers and checkers for all mechanical engineering and design deliverables including drawings, specifications and calculations.

  • Fully versed in the work sequence, general content, and methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within mechanical engineering discipline.

  • Fully versed in the process of preparing and checking of calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention and storage of calculations within the mechanical discipline.

  • Maintains technical coordination with the Principal Engineer to ensure adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements and sound engineering practices. Coordinates mechanical engineering and design activities with those of other disciplines on the project. Works closely with Chief Discipline Engineers, Principal Engineers and Project Engineering Managers on employee's evaluations and promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group.

  • Fully versed in interpreting codes and permitting as it relates to a specific discipline. Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks. Assists the Project Engineering Manager in identifying the engineering documents that must comply with regulatory/licensing requirements and establishes schedules and budgets to meet project requirements. Advises the Project Engineering Manager regarding status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.

  • Assumes “in charge” responsibility for ensuring that engineering deliverable (documents) comply with applicable state laws/regulations, including affixing registered engineer seal when required. Complies with state requirements for continuing education, maintains and obtains licenses as requested. Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.

  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Selected candidate shall be responsible for the development of process flow diagrams, process and instrument diagrams (P&ID), system design descriptions, engineering calculations for various mechanical equipment and piping, equipment specifications, technical bid evaluations, piping design including high energy and balance of plant (BOP) piping, review and approval of piping isometric drawings.

  • In addition, the selected candidate shall be responsible for the technical input for the preparation of the engineering estimates, preparation of budgets and schedules as well as supervision of engineering staff.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in the design, construction and start-up of combined cycle and cogeneration power plants.

  • Professional Engineering License required.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in the design, construction and start-up of combined cycle, cogeneration, fossil fueled and nuclear electric generating stations.

Additional Information:
