Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Start Up Engineering Technical Writer - Trainer to be based in Princeton, NJ.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties under general supervision requiring some independent judgment and ingenuity.

  • Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in making minor modifications and adaptations.

  • Translate complex engineering documentation into operator- oriented language. The engineering documents include; Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's), Electrical Single Lines, Control Wiring Diagrams (CWD's) Schematics, Logics, Control System Descriptions (CSD's), technical Specifications and Vendor supplied Operating and Maintenance Instructions.

  • The job entails working as part of a project team using cutting edge technology

  • All documents are developed electronically and require working knowledge of personal computers.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or demonstrated equivalent.

  • This is an intermediate level position with 2 years of related experience.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen

  • All documents are developed electronically and require working knowledge of personal computers.

  • Experience with applications contained in Microsoft Office professional Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)

  • Power plant experience with an understanding of the basic systems used to generate electricity using fossil fuels or renewable resources.

  • Experience with System Description and Operating Instructions (SDOI's), Maintenance Instructions, Lesson Plans and Training Presentations.

  • Some travel to project training sites.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience developing technical documents

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering / Technology preferred

  • Required instructor skills include ability to clearly articulate the training course material using vocabulary commensurate to that of the audience.

  • Spoken English fluency is required, while fluency or proficiency in other spoken languages is desirable.

  • Sufficient mechanical and electrical fundamentals knowledge to elaborate on course material and respond to classroom questions and discussion

  • Experience developing documents for various power projects under strict budget constraints

  • Experience with a background in plant operation or operations training, particularly Electrical Distribution Systems, with good organizational and instructor skills to conduct training.

  • Combined Cycle Power projects and Scrubber / SCR / Air Quality Control retrofits experience a plus
