Job Summary


This position is located in Port Hueneme, CA.


The Woodworker constructs and repairs items such as boxes, crates, pallets, and storage bins from wood and wood

substitutes, studies specifications; and measures, marks, and cuts boards, using patterns, templates, ruler, pencil, and hand

and power saws.

Use plans, blueprints, drawings to select, measure, cut, form, and fabricate wooden containers and platforms.

Fastens or installs parts, using hammer, nailing machine, or power staple, repairs defective containers by replacing damaged

parts, inserts wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers.

Build crate around object, using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nailer, may fabricate, repair, modify, and replace woodwork

on vehicle sides and beds, apply preservative to prolong wood life, and may pack, seal, band, and apply markings to crates

and containers.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Shop environment with hazardous equipment, moving MHE, obstacles and high volume activity. Must be able to lift 35 pounds

and carry for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, have full dexterity, and correctable vision. Outside work in hot, cold

and wet weather is often required. Work environment often has fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is loud. Protective

devices are required to avoid injury.

Minimum Requirements

  • In accordance with the contract, all personnel performing work require United States citizenship or acceptable proof of naturalization prior to employment.

  • Minimum one-year specific experience using wood shop tools, fabricating containers, or framing construction.

  • Must be familiar and able to operate all types of wood working equipment.

  • Must have demonstrated skill to assemble/fabricate wooden containers, mount out boxes, stands, chests, skids and platforms.

  • Must have woodworking experience. (framing, construction, cabinet making etc...ANY wood working experience.)

  • Must be familiar with all safety devices/guards attached to woodcutting machinery.

  • Must be able to read and understand general technical drawings.

  • Must have graduated from high school or have passed GED.

  • May substitute experience for education at the rate of one year of specific experience for one year of high school.

  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English.

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
