Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Dispatcher- Traffic Operations for employment in the Pompano, FL office.

The individual will be responsible for monitoring Florida's Turnpike from a 24x7x365 control center in Pompano Beach. Each operator utilizes Intelligent Transportation System devices to maintain an incident database and communicate effectively with partner agencies and Turnpike customers. The required experience and skills needed are: knowledge of major local roads; experience in a call center, control center or dispatch center; ability to prioritize and complete work on time in a fast-paced environment; competent Windows based computer skills; and effective communications with telephone and two-way radio systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Good data entry skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Ability to work alternate work schedules and on-call duties at a 24 hour operation center

  • Skilled in the use of Window based applications, preferred Internet Explorer, Word, and Excel

  • Knowledge of two-way communication systems

  • Knowledge of the Turnpike and freeway system in Central Florida

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

  • Knowledge of Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and/or Highway Advisory Radio (HAR)

  • Knowledge of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)

  • Knowledge of Incident Command System or NIMS
