Job Summary

This position is contingent upon award of the Naval Test Wing Pacific Aircraft Maintenance contract and will be based in Point Mugu, CA

Comply with all Federal, State, Local, County, and Navy environmental laws, policies and regulations. Assist in establishing guidelines to protect the health and safety of employees and the community by minimizing / eliminating the risk of environmental pollution. Act as the liaison between Contractor workforce and for HAZMAT issues in daily routine. Serve as contractor point of contact for collection of contractor generated HAZWASTE, preparation for shipping (i.e. palletizing etc.), preparation of all supporting paper for the disposal of contractor generated HAZWASTE in support of the Daily Flight Schedule. Specific to VX-31, ensure all contractor/military/government HAZMAT/HAZWASTE generated, to include any and all squadron sponsored taskings, squadron aircraft SE, and related maintenance actions are properly handled, collected, and disposed of per all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work is performed in an office, flight line and shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-50 pounds and occasionally in excess of 75 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Minimum Requirements

MUST BE A US CITIZEN

  1. Minimum of six years practical experience within the last ten years in the management, administration, or operation of a safety and occupational health program or specialty, or experience in administrative work concerned with safety and occupational health activities, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of related program function.

  2. Minimum of two years practical experience within the last four years in the management, administration, or operation of a hazardous materials/waste program.

  3. At least two years of experience shall include receiving, storage, distribution and handling, and disposal of all types of material that may be utilized at the Contractor’s job site.

  4. At least one year experience in planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating a HAZMAT program for an entire command.

Capabilities/Skills:

  1. Knowledgeable of and have experience with applicable federal, DOD, state, and local regulations pertaining to the protection of the environment.

  2. Possess knowledge of the principles, standards, and techniques of safety and occupational health management and have experience in planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating a safety and occupational health program for an entire command.

  3. Shall possess or can qualify for a U.S. states driver license.
