The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform SCUBA diving to assess for marine natural resources
Drive small boats for marine field work
Use global positioning systems e.g. Trimble units to capture station locations
Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with determined by scope of project
Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
Participate in field events for collection of biological (fish, shellfish, benthic invertebrates, wildlife), surface water, sediment, soil, and porewater samples
Provide sorting and identification of marine benthic infaunal and zooplankton samples
Compiling, evaluating, and analyzing environmental data
Assist in the preparation of reports and other technical documents
Coordinate work and seek input as appropriate from senior project managers and senior technical resources to make certain that the work is performed safely and consistent with project expectations
Generate maps and work collaboratively with ArcGIS team members
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science or other similar field with focus on aquaculture, sediment-organism interactions, benthic infaunal studies
Experienced with data collection, data review and preparation of scientific documents
Knowledge and experience with CEQA, NEPA and/or FERC
Experience with using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Knowledge with industry standard GPS tracking devices
