We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a GIS Analyst to edit, analyze, and maintain a variety of geospatial data and information using GIS techniques and software in support of long-term planning and asset management efforts. The successful candidate will be a fully competent GIS practitioner familiar with all conventional aspects of this functional area and will be capable of managing spatial and non-spatial data in accordance with AECOM standards and procedures. The Analyst will operate independently with minimal supervision and execute and deliver GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity which may require the application of advanced editing and/or analytical techniques and practices. The candidate must demonstrate extensive working knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS software suite and geospatial databases. Position will report to and physically be located in our Pittsburgh, PA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Edit, manage, and analyze geospatial data maintained in versioned, enterprise geodatabases using the suite of ESRI software products to generate a variety of electronic and hardcopy mapping products

  • Produce spatial and non-spatial data related to pipe networks while ensuring accuracy and logical consistency in processing and output

  • Generate/regenerate standard map products following applicable GIS data standards and specifications for digital data deliverables

  • Perform geo-referencing of imagery and conversion to vectors datasets

  • Analyze, process, and integrate GPS data

  • Maintain metadata associated with GIS datasets, as necessary

  • Perform ad hoc analyses and create ad hoc map products

  • Review technical requirements to meet data development objectives and perform quality assurance on data deliverables

  • Assist in preparing GIS datasets for distribution through ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and web-based GIS platforms

  • Analyze technical problems and devise new approaches and alternative solutions

  • Provide consultative support for GIS strategic planning, technical issues resolution, and business development activities

  • Assist, train, and provide liaison support to internal and external clients

  • Support GIS needs assessments and requirements analysis efforts

  • Troubleshoot ArcMap and ArcCatalog operational issues

  • Document the processes and actions involved in completing assigned tasks

  • Coordinate work with junior and senior GIS staff

  • Very limited travel may be required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS)

  • 3+ years GIS Analyst work experience - preferably on water, wastewater or water resource projects

  • 3+ years' experience using ESRI's - preferably ArcGIS 10.x suite of software products

  • Previous experience with advanced editing (Use of topology and advance drawing tool), raster data processing, geographic analysis (Buffer, clip, finding what is within an area or distance, etc.), versioned editing, and disconnected editing

  • Working knowledge of Enterprise database systems (SDE, ArcGIS for Server)

  • Knowledge of mobile data collection and GPS techniques

  • Knowledge of cartography, coordinate systems, map projections, and pipe network topologies

  • Experience supporting web-based GIS services (ArcGIS Online)

  • Working knowledge of multi-user environments (ex. CITRIX)

  • Ability to work independently and also with a team of professionals (internal and external clients and customers) and have excellent time management skills

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite with focus on Excel and Access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of wastewater and storm water conveyance systems and water transmission networks

  • Innovyze InfoNet and Microsoft SharePoint experience

  • Python, SQL, Perl, Java script, and experience

  • Knowledge of various data types such as CAD, GPS, flat files and ability to convert and work with them in GIS environment

  • Experience working in engineering consulting industry

  • GISP and/or ESRI Technical Certification
