Job Summary

The Design Consulting Services (DCS) Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in the Phoenix, Arizona Office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate progressive experience in transportation engineering, with specialized skills and experience in traffic operations and transportation planning. The incumbent can look forward to multi-disciplinary projects requiring complex design and analysis skills; management of projects and major project tasks; mentorship of technical staff; and client interaction. Incumbent may participate on design-build projects in the region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Participates on interdisciplinary teams with technical responsibilities in the areas of traffic operations analysis and simulation; traffic signal design and operations; signing and striping plan preparation; and construction traffic control planning

  • Prepares project deliverables including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports

  • Supervises work prepared by junior professional staff and technicians

  • Participates in client meetings and the presentation of project findings to technical and lay audiences

  • Participates in client marketing, the preparation of proposals and making sales presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in traffic engineering design and traffic operations

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering can substitute for up to two years of work experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Arizona or ability to obtain within six months of starting employment

  • Experience with MicroSoft Office Suite including MSProject, MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD

  • Experience with traffic engineering software such as SignCAD and Visual and other applicable software packages

  • Knowledge of traffic engineering software including VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, TransCAD, and HCS

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
