Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

The Environmental Department of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Air Quality/Compliance Specialist for immediate employment in the Phoenix, AZ office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Air Quality Permitting and Compliance. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The successful candidate will support a variety of compliance related projects ranging from air quality permitting, greenhouse gas reporting, air regulatory analysis, and compliance auditing. The candidate will also participate in and/or lead business development efforts for air compliance related work. Writing skills and strong attention to quality assurance/quality control are critical.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Review applicability of state and federal regulations

  • Support environmental compliance projects

  • Manage air compliance and permitting projects

  • Conduct and/or lead environmental audit projects

  • Air regulatory review and compliance

  • Work closely with clients to develop strategies that will aid the client in maintaining compliance and operational flexibility while meeting client’s expectations related to scope, budget, schedule and quality

  • Responsible for the development and mentoring of junior and mid-level staff members; this will be accomplished with an active role in supporting general technical growth by providing constructive oversight and challenging tasks

  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering

  • 10+ years of experience in the field of environmental compliance, air permitting

  • Must have experience in environmental compliance, air permitting

  • Working knowledge of Arizona air permitting regulations and New Source Review

  • Experience interpreting and implementing Federal air regulations

  • Title V air quality permitting

  • Air dispersion modeling

  • Strong analytical skills

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification

  • Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain

Preferred Qualifications

  • Air permitting experience with industrial clients and the power industry

  • Preference for candidates with business development skills and strong client relationships

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills including pivot tables, array formulas, and scripts

  • Working knowledge of Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico air permitting regulations

  • Project manager experience

  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail

  • Experience interpreting and implementing State and Federal air regulations

  • Must have strong oral presentation skills, strong written communication skills, and strong math and computer skills

  • Ability to work well in teams and get along with coworkers

  • Ability to manage and mentor junior staff

  • Valid Arizona driver's license

  • Ability to both speak and write English well
