Job Summary

AECOM's multimodal Planning Division is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transportation/Transit Planner for immediate employment in the Phoenix, Arizona office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an educational and career path in transit or transportation planning, with proven experience of contributing to planning efforts and other related projects. The ideal candidates will demonstrate an ability to be highly organized, work well independently and with teams, and the ability to communicate clearly. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to

  • Collect, organize, and manage data to conduct transportation/transit alignment and facility siting studies

  • Utilize GIS and other tools including Microsoft Office programs to provide data-driven analysis for planning studies

  • Respond to questions and requests from project team members, clients, and other stakeholders

  • Participate in meetings with clients, members of the public, and other stakeholders

  • This position may require occasional travel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Geography, Environmental Studies, Transportation Studies, or related field or demonstrated combination of education, skills, knowledge, ability and experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve transportation planning-related issues and challenges

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, research, and data collection

  • Analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and apply mathematic techniques in practical situations

  • Technical writing capability

  • Willingness to travel (if and when required)

  • Valid Driver's License is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of relevant work experience or internship/coop in transportation or transit planning

  • Demonstrated experience with Land Desktop, AutoCAD, InRoads, InSite, or MicroStation or other related software

  • Working knowledge of GIS and/or ARC map

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Demonstration of educational and career path in transit or transportation planning, with proven experience of contributing to planning efforts and other related assignments

  • Familiarity with transportation and multimodal planning principles
