Position Title Senior OCS Engineer

AECOM is seeking a senior Overhead Contact System (OCS) engineer for our transit rail overhead electrification practice in Philadelphia, PA. The overhead electrification practice in Philadelphia is dynamic and growing. This position will include working with a dedicated team of overhead electrification professionals on a broad range of projects through North America, including various catenary systems types and configurations. Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibility are best qualified to meet the demands of this work.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Providing instruction, management and oversight to junior engineers in the practice to develop knowledge of OCS elements, and guide them through design tasks and increase overall OCS capabilities of the practice.
Serve as the design lead on transit electrification projects throughout North America
Full range of catenary design and analysis tasks, including support and wiring layouts and profiles, cross-section development, structural support design, equipment allocation, grounding and bonding, sectionalizing, and the development of basic design parameters
Management of the project team, budgets and all design deliverables
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering
5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of overhead electrification systems
Experience with a variety of overhead system types and electrification project scopes
Experience utilizing AutoCAD and Microstation in OCS design
Experience with structural and foundation design software (STAAD, LPile, MathCAD)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of MS Office applications
Ability to desig and implement a variety of overhead system types including auto-tensioned and fixed termination systems, simple catenary and single contact wire/trolley wire, as well as both AC and DC systems
Experienced in the development of specifications, cost estimating, construction staging, and design around active railroad and should be familiar with construction and installation practices
- Professional Engineering License
