AECOM is recruiting on behalf of our client, a global manufacturer of heavy earthmoving equipment, for multiple direct hire openings.
Our client is seeking several Production Welders II on 1 st shift!
Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm; hours may vary based on business demand.
These positions are part of a new welding crew at a manufacturing / production facility in Wamego, KS.
Successful candidates will become direct hires of our client.
Must be willing to relocate to the Wamego, KS area.
The Production Welder II performs a variety of welding and fabrication tasks, including building custom fixtures, fabricating brackets, and fabricating maintenance parts or “one off” production / process parts. Works with tack welds and welds fabricated parts together from blueprints. The Production Welder II must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues.
Follows set-up guidelines and procedures by using various tools, such as drop chains, chain hoist, metal shims, wedges, lifting lugs, C clamps, bar clamps, come-along, cutting torch, grinder, tape measure, fixtures and weld gauges.
Sets the weld machine to correct setting for weld application. Welds unit according to print specifications.
Visually inspects welds quality using weld and attribute gauges and other measuring tools.
Uses air arc and grinder to remove or repair unacceptable welds in order to meet quality guidelines.
Monitors machinery/equipment operation to detect and resolve problems. Performs routine maintenance such as wire and/or nozzle tip changes.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Two years of experience as a welder in an industrial, fabrication, or maintenance setting, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to pass welder qualification requirements during training provided by our client’s certified welding educator or inspector.
Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
Must be willing to relocate to the Wamego, KS area.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Associate’s degree to technical certification in Welding or related program.
Experience operating MIG, TIG and/or arc welders.
Experience operating a plasma cutter.
Experience operating an oxy-acetylene cutting torch.
Experience with reading blue prints and drawings.
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, including applying proper safety practices and following procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Friendly, cooperative, customer service-minded attitude; team player.
Basic computer skills for data entry, email, etc.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
