Job Summary

AECOM is seekinga senior ES&H Manager to be based in Peoria, IL! This position will support our global organization of mostly hourly employees providing services to a client with numerous manufacturing and logistics facilities located domestically and abroad, and will require 25-50% travel throughout the continental United States to support remote work sites and business startups nationwide.

Reporting to the General Manager, the ES&H Manager is responsible for following trends and implementing processes and programs to improve safety performance by assuring the elimination of hazards and/or potential hazards in the work place.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages Safety Specialists and site safety reps in programs and best practices.

  • Recognizes, evaluates, recommends and implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with ES&H requirements of the organization.

  • Responsible for monitoring and preventing chemical, biological, physical hazards and diseases present throughout work sites.

  • Reviews and incorporates health standards published by regulatory authorities.

  • Ensures that quality control procedures are established to monitor all aspects of regulations.

  • Provides all necessary reports to Federal, State, and local agencies.

  • Directs audits of health and safety program to identify and control significant loss producing exposure.

  • Develops and provides basic ES&H training to employees.

  • Promotes communication programs to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident and fire prevention, industrial hygiene and environmental compliance.

  • Performs work which involves a variety of functions that require a broad range of expertise and excellent communication skills.

  • Performs under minimal supervision and exercises independent judgment in problem resolution

  • Adjusts to changing conditions and occasionally works off-shift, holidays, and weekends

  • Maintains high level of customer service and satisfaction.

  • Performs additional duties as directed



Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or a related role, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience in a safety professional role.

  2. In addition to education requirements, 10 years of experience in an occupational safety role that includes management experience.

  3. Working knowledge of safety in a facilities or production maintenance environment.

  4. Must be willing to travel 25-50% throughout continental United States.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.

  • Demonstrated capabilities in computer use including Microsoft full product line

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movements.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Current CH, CSP, CMIOSH, CHMM, PE or CHP certification.

  2. Experience with industrial or manufacturing Facility Maintenance Management.

  3. International and multi-site support experience

  4. Experience effectively delivering training to multiple levels of personnel.

  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  6. Experience using software to enter and interpret safety-related data.

  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  1. Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends
