Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Client Account Lead to build and manage Federal relationships and assist in the pursuit and capture of Canadian Federal Government programs and projects. The location of this position is flexible to AECOM offices in Ottawa or the Greater Toronto Area.

Key Focus:

  • Support the overarching Canadian Federal Government Growth Strategy and lead the tactical execution of the business development activities to increase market share.

  • Develop new business opportunities that result in pipeline growth by leveraging customer focused marketing through client outreach and engagement with senior government officials.

  • Lead teams in execution of AECOM processes and application of business development tools to drive efficiencies, effectively manage proposal resources, and increase competitive win rates.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development of new business opportunities with the client including: future capital budget expenditure, customer procurement processes, funding capabilities, competitive intelligence, and scope of service requirements.

  • Engage and participate in reviews, briefings, and other critical internal operations leveraging market knowledge and effective communication strategies.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute prioritized strategy focused on winning programs and projects while leveraging resources from across the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as top level point of contact for the client.

  • Lead and manage the national federal account team for designated Federal client.

  • Lead major pursuits and capture strategies.

  • Build on strong relationships and interact regularly with existing and new Federal Government staff, potential teaming partners, and industry groups and stakeholders.

  • Lead the development of market sector intelligence including industry assessment, trends, and opportunities for investment.

  • Identify and investigate major project opportunities in Canada, while prioritizing these project opportunities based on the overall Return on Investment for AECOM.

  • Identify and organize the relevant capabilities of AECOM related to identified opportunities. Understand capability gaps and identify key hires to strengthen our offering.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 8+ years of experience with business development, marketing and client engagement with knowledge of the consulting industry.

  • Excellent political acuity plus significant knowledge and awareness of Canadian Federal Government structure, accountability, procurement approaches and issues.

  • Ability to develop key and trusted client relationships that can lead to new business quickly.

  • Extensive existing Canadian Federal client relationships as well as an elevated existing profile as an industry leader

  • Demonstrated skills and track record in marketing and business development, including market assessment and strategy development, competitive assessment, market positioning and market strategy execution.

  • Superior interpersonal skills including relationship building and communication at all levels and work collaboratively across the organization; listening to other points of view while still being persuasive.

  • Demonstrable team building and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address major client needs and challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years' experience preferred.

  • Track record of contributing and leading organizations and associations relevant to the consulting, engineering and construction contracting industry.

  • Security Clearance.
