AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Environmental Scientist, Engineer or Geologist for employment in the Orlando, FL office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Gather, organize, and analyze field data to be used in the preparation of scientific reports
Conduct environmental assessments to define the nature and extent of contamination
Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
Prepare high-quality technical reports and environmental permit application packages
Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, geology, engineering or chemistry)
Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail, good time-use skills, and ability to work in a team environment
Excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to handle the demands of multiple priorities for various clients and projects
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multitasking skills
Must be a self-starter and motivated in producing high-quality results
Must be able to interact directly with clients and local regulatory agencies in a professional manner
Must be proficient with MS Office applications
Willingness and availability to travel occasionally (within Florida)
Must be able to operate a full size pickup truck safely
May require working long field days outdoors, sometimes under rigorous conditions (e.g., hot and/or rainy weather, remote areas, in a variety of habitats)
Must possess a valid driver license
May be required to complete pre-employment drug screen
Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or other closely-related field
0-2 years of experience
Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and analysis
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
