Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transportation Engineer for immediate employment in the Orange, CA office. The qualified applicant will demonstrate a working knowledge of roadway and civil design tasks to prepare high quality design components for roadway, aviation, and other civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will be a part of project team preparing preliminary and final design package deliverables for highway and aviation projects. The candidate must be detail oriented and comfortable in a team oriented environment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Horizontal and vertical design of roadways

  • Drainage calculations and plan preparation

  • Paving of taxiways or other related areas

  • Preparation of various reports

  • Coordination with other disciplines and stakeholders

  • Quantity calculations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other Engineering discipline

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • EIT required

  • Knowledge of transportation and civil project design and proficiency with CAD tools such as Microstation, AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Experience in preparing deliverables such as geometric plans, grading, drainage, and construction details

  • Experience with technical report preparation

  • Ability to work independently on routine civil and roadway design elements such as roadway layout, storm drain design, grading, development of construction details, and layout of basic retaining walls

  • Ability to locate and utilize appropriate design standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience

  • Ability to assist in or prepare engineering design reports, construction plans, and contract documents / technical specifications

  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with design teams consisting of multi-discipline design engineers and technicians

  • Previous experience with large agencies within southern California such as Caltrans, Metro, cities, and counties

  • Active pursuit or current possession of Professional Civil Registration in California

  • Advanced proficiency with Microstation and/or Civil 3D
