About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Staff Consultant and Engineering Intern for employment in the Orange, CA office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Gain industry and organizational knowledge
Perform market research
Coordinate data for Water business line market analysis
Learn how to leverage results to inform effective future strategies.
Help formulate new business objectives based on data analysis
Dive deeper into understanding AECOM’s target customer and business environment
Conduct research for ongoing project pursuits
Will primarily interface with internal team members at various levels of seniority
Other duties as assigned
Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or other related field required
Strong passion demonstrated via energy levels, enthusiasm, creativity and commitment
Interested in pursuing a career in Civil Engineering industry
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office; specifically, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Strong attention to detail
Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to interpret and explain data
Ability to work independently and take initiative on specific projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
Must enjoy a fast-paced dynamic team environment
Must be a fast learner and be able to learn through on the job training
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Ability to work at least 20 hours per week
Currently in pursuit of a Master's degree
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment.
