Job Summary

Under management from National and Western Transportation Alternative Delivery leads and in coordination with regional leadership, lead a team of highly skilled transportation professionals to win and deliver design-build projects throughout the Southwest US Area (California, Arizona, Utah), with immediate focus on major transportation clients in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. This is a senior Design Manager opportunity for the right person with the mindset to lead public transportation alternative delivery design teams, founded on a highly qualified core group. In addition, the successful candidate will be available to assist the national Alternative Delivery Group in client service and application of best practices across the country.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Assist Western Transportation Alternative Delivery lead in developing marketing and client capture strategies and plans for large design-build pursuits

  • Develop design-build pursuit organizational staffing plans to support marketing and client capture plans

  • Establish relationships with both external and internal clients and customers

  • Maintain a high local and regional profile and continue relationship building with respective agencies and construction industry leads

  • Assist in positioning AECOM for pursuits that best fit our skillset and develop regional staff for successful delivery of design-build pursuits

  • Assist with the proposal development process including Statement of Qualifications, Technical Proposals and Presentations

  • Attend conferences and workshops to strengthen existing client relationships and establish new relationships; obtain an understanding of emerging technologies and market drivers

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Professional Engineer registration in California and Arizona, or has demonstrated ability to obtain these licenses within 6 months of employment

  • 10+ years of experience in project management, staff and organizational development, client service management, or business development activities for large scale transportation clients and/or projects

  • Demonstrated expertise in the area of managing and preparing transportation design-build project delivery teams

  • Proven track record with large client account management, project pursuit execution, and engineering/planning staff development

  • Experience in client prepositioning activities, proposal development, and execution of selection interviews

  • Team-oriented individual that can work with operations, project and marketing staff

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Valid Driver’s License required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in project management, staff and organizational development, client service management, or business development activities for large scale transportation clients and/or projects

  • Track record of increasing market share and staff effectiveness in transportation sector

  • Recognized business development/client management leader

  • Recognized leader in developing staff and nurturing relationships with key clients

  • Recognized leader in professional organizations
