Job Summary

The Senior Accountant works within the DCS Americas and supports the Assistant Controller and Accounting Manager in completing month end close activities, maintaining account reconciliations and preparing and reviewing accrual analysis in accordance with US GAAP and AECOM policies. The Senior Accountant completes these activities in collaboration with various regions and business lines, and uses their analytical skills and strong knowledge and background in accounting to develop best practices to share with the team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monthly close processes

  • Responsible in completing account reconciliations (concentration will be on higher risk/high profile and judgmental accounts) in accordance to AECOM policies

  • Communicate with various regions and business lines to obtain necessary information in completing monthly reconciliations

  • Prepare ad hoc analytical analysis in a timely manner

  • Propose and implement improvements to existing analysis and develop additional analysis as needed

  • Prepare general ledger journal entries including but not limited to accruals, prepaids, and reserves

  • Assist with internal and external audit preparations

  • Ability to complete research and documentation of technical accounting matters

  • Assist in additional accounting projects as directed by the Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • 2+ years' public accounting experience

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and applications of accounting principles

  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and successfully multitask

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently on a timely basis

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Must provide previous employee reviews and ratings

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA preferred

  • Public/Private experience in a publicly held company preferred

  • Experience in Engineering and construction industry, or long-term contract accounting experience preferred

  • Oracle experience (or comparable ERP system) a plus
