About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Science Intern for employment in the Ontario, CA office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
Project areas include compliance, assessment and remediation tasks associated with commercial and industrial contamination within the soil, groundwater, and soil vapor
Revisions and/or development of GIS spatial analysis and cartography
Revisions and/or development of AutoCAD graphics
Revision and/or development of spreadsheets, Access databases, or MS Project schedules
Assist with the development and tracking of schedules and budgets
Preparation of technical documents such as correspondence, health and safety plans, work plans, and technical reports
Research and preparation of City, County and State permitting to support field tasks
Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Work well with other diverse team members
Interns will be included in organization events such as staff meetings and brown bag workshops, and be allowed opportunities for networking and informational briefings with key personnel
Learning objectives will be established at the start of the internship with his/her supervisor to provide clear direction and targeted goals
Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, soil science, geology or any scientific related field)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a project team and a fast-paced environment
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Knowledge of environmental data collection, identification, investigation, and data entry
A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically juniors or seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment.
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcMap, ModFlow)
