About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.
This position is contingent on the award of contract.
AECOM has been tasked to provide environmental protection support in the form of Environmental Protection Specialists to support environmental related activities occurring within the Middle East. Candidates must be willing and able to work in austere environments around the world.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs a full range of professional environmental protection related activities related to all phases of program/project environmental protection including the interpretation of and compliance with applicable criteria, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs technical reviews and analyses of program/project planning, design, and related material and ongoing program/project activities
Develops and/or interprets and implements specific program/project requirements as well as overall environmental program issues in accordance with applicable environmental laws, executive orders, and regulations, SOPs, and other environmental guidance as deemed applicable, including host nation laws and regulations and final governing standards, as available and applicable
Serves as a technical expert in environmental protection including conducting environmental inspections and surveys
Provides technical expertise for a wide range of environmental protection issues or concerns including air, potable water, wastewater, hazardous materials/waste, solid waste, asbestos abatement, noise, underground storage tanks, etc.
Evaluates, plans, develops, and coordinates environmental protection program/projects, as required
Evaluates activities compliance in accordance with governing standards regulations, and requirements
Responsible for identifying the need for and coordinating the collection, compiling, analyzing, and reporting of environmental compliance and pollution data for various media including water, wastewater, soil, or hazardous waste/material, or other site-specific sampling requirements deemed necessary to support and/or facilitate environmental protection program/project objectives and requirements
Continually informs and provides feedback to the Environmental Protection Manager/Advisor of all relevant issues and concerns and activity progress as necessary
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of environmental technical experience
Previous experience working with burn pits, incinerators, medical waste, air/ash sampling, waste management, recycling, balers, hazardous waste/materials, and or water/wastewater (drinking, lagoons, treatment plants, etc.)
Current Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain one)
Associates degree in related field
Previous experience working overseas supporting the U.S. military
Previous experience working in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and/or Iraq
Professional Certifications in Environment and Safety
