Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Resident Engineer for immediate employment for the Oakland, CA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Manages contractors, coordinates with outside agencies, design professionals and other project participants in the successful execution of the design, schedule, cost, contract administration and quality aspects of large scale, complex construction projects involving structures

  • Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments and managing projects that are large in scope and significantly complex

  • Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases for larger scope structures-related projects

  • Works with project managers and construction managers to identify resources needed to address successful execution of entire structures project scope

  • Communicates with upper management and client management to ensure the timely completion and coordination of assigned structures construction projects

  • Monitors project activities related to construction site work

  • Regularly develops and evaluates project implementation plans

  • Provides direct supervision to construction management staff

  • Identifies potential clients and work

  • Secures and manages clients and contracts

  • Assists business line managers in the development of new business, marketing to potential and existing clients

  • Provides advice and consultation to client as regards to construction matters, including compliance with federal/state laws and regulations

  • Delegates work to, trains and supervises junior-level staff to complete assignments

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering, electrical or mechanical engineering

  • 8+ years' relevant experience

  • Registration as a California Professional Engineer required

  • Experience as resident engineer on transportation or transit projects

  • Knowledge of construction contract administration procedures and techniques

  • Expereince acting as owner's on-site representiative

  • Exeprience supervising and directing construction management staff in implementation of effective construction management procedures and processes

  • Familiar with federal, state and local codes and regulations and standards governing construction projects in their respective field

  • Advanced project management and client management skills required

  • Advanced negotiation skills required

  • Ability to bring complex disputes to satisfactory conclusion including negotiations and/or mediations representing the client’s position

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration and designation as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) desirable
